Fathers and Sons

Brandan has spent the last week working with Randy Bensen to side a house in Gillette and the boys and I have been working to finish up some projects in the house.

For Fathers Day, the boys and I made Brandan a candy bar poster.  Sport pulled off two candy bars before Brandan could read it and the other boys had two bars eaten before he could unwrap his other present, which was a package of socks.  After he opened his presents, Brandan and the boys spent the next hour wrestling, even Sport got in on the action.  As you can see, we really like to treat our Daddy right on his special day.

Sport got a pretty good sunburn on Saturday. Incidentally, that little tongue of his goes all day long, and actually, its not so little.

We went to the Sanctuary with some friends on Saturday. Tia Bensen took this great picture of Hercules the lion.

Oh Baby!

Baby Deer

We were a little late on our way to church last week, not surprisingly, and so when we passed a deer and its tiny little fawn we decided we were already late enough as it was so it wouldn't hurt to go back and get a closer look.  As we pulled the car over, the doe ran away and we could see the fawn drop to the ground. He was the size of a big cat and still had matted new fur. I walked up to within a foot of the little guy and he didn't move at all. I could have scooped him up and taken him home, but instead I just took a few pictures.

Baby Genius

Colt tried on Kaitlyn Bensen's glasses the other day.  He was extremely proud of his intelligent look.

Sport is on to the next thing.  He loves standing up to things and today he started letting go of the couch and starting to balance himself. He's not good at it, but he tries.
Sport first started trying to stand up by balancing on the doorstop.

Anytime Brandan sits down, Sport is immediately in the middle of it. Here they are cleaning out the screen door.
Sport just looked so cute I had to take a picture.

Daddy's Babies

Brandan spent a couple of nights at youth conference this last week.  Even though I missed him, I was surprised at how the hard the boys took his absence.  I can tell you Daddys are important even to a 7 month old. After Brandan got home he stood in the kitchen chatting with me a second and then walked through to the bathroom.  In the meantime, Sport had been making his way over to where Brand had been standing and when he got there and Brandan was missing, he sat up, looked around and cried.  A minute later Brandan walked out and sat down on the ground in front of the couch. Sport zoomed over there and spent the next 10 minutes crawling all over him, squealing and burying his face into Brandan's chest. It was super cute, but the baby wasn't the only one missing his Dad. After Brandan had been home about an hour, Dash walked up to him and said, "So Daddy...should we wrestle?"

We Moved.....Finally!

We finally made the official move to the new house on Monday.  We still didn't have carpet or appliances, but there we were.  On Tuesday, we cleaned out the old house and to our surprise Home Depot called to say they were coming and they were bringing all our appliances.  This was especially surprising since Brand had to kind of yell at them just to get them to promise to bring the fridge.

All the boys hated the disorder of the new house, but of the three, Colt took the move the hardest. One afternoon he finally crawled under a dresser that was sitting in the kitchen and took a nap.

As soon as we had everything plugged in, we loaded up and headed off for Laramie for Brand's school meeting the next day.  After his meeting we headed over to Cheyenne to spend another night away from the messy carpetless disaster back in Upton.  The boys had a blast swimming in the hotel pools and playing at the park we found in Cheyenne and Brandan and I enjoyed our break from the never-ending home projects.

We came back Thursday night and our carpet was installed on Saturday.  Our simple little house seems luxurious to us.  We love it and are so happy to finally be getting back to some normalcy.  Now on to the yard!

All the boys enjoying the hotel pool.

We really tried hard to get a good picture of the boys at the park. We took about 50 pictures and unfortunately this was one of the best.

More unsuccessful pictures.

Dash loved the geese. I guess he forgot he used to feed the geese at the river in Idaho Falls all the time.
