Sports Scores and Highlights

Even though school sports are over for the summer, the Madsen family is still busy with our summer sports.  Between swimming lessons, trampoline Olympics, and daily exercising, the boys stay very active.

Water-noodle racing with the swim class.
The boys jumping on the tramp with the sprinkler on underneath.
First thing in the morning, the boys do their "exercises".  This can include running in circles around the kitchen island or jumping off the couch.  On this particular morning, the boys tied their bouncing balls to the bunk bed (the mattress were being used by some overnight guests), put on their boxing gloves (aka, socks) and did some boxing.
And in other news, Brandan finished his classes in Greeley, CO on the 26th and came home to stay for the rest of the summer! Just in time to start football practice...

4th of July 2012

We had a quiet, but fun 4th of July this year.  Because Brandan is taking classes in Greeley, CO through the month of July and only got the day of the 4th off, we all stayed the week at Dan's empty house so we could celebrate the holiday together.  Unfortunately/fortunately, Brandan had to do homework for most of the morning on the 4th, so the rest of us just did some much need lounging.
Dash and Sport sharing cereal and watching tv at Dan and Jill's house.  Sport used his pool toy like a Lazy Boy recliner.
Colt found an unusual, but comfortable perch close to the tv.
After Brandan had finished up his homework, we drove into Cheyenne and went to a free ice cream social held in downtown. The boys loved the ice cream cones, but were pretty pleased with the flags they had been given as well. Then we wandered around downtown for a while.
Eating ice cream and walking around Cheyenne.

Colt couldn't keep up with his drippy cone.
The top of Sport's ice cream cone ended up on the sidewalk.
This is Sport's "smile".
A close up of Sport's camera face.  Scary.

Walking back to the car.
This is a more candid/natural shot of Sport.
When we got home we all got in the pool. Again, actually. We had already swam once that day. It was a really hot day.
I thought this was a funny shot because Dash kept loosing his shorts trying to get on the tube.
Colt was pretending to be a shark, but his attack ended up more like a bear hug.
Sport didn't love his pool seat.  He was just too far removed from the action.
Once our swim was over, we very cautiously roasted hotdogs and marshmellows over Dan and Jill's firepit.  We were pretty careful because we really didn't want to start another wildfire.

We thought maybe we would be able to see some fireworks from the trampoline in the yard, but because of the fire danger, there really were only fireworks happening right in Cheyenne.  So after a while we loaded up in the car and headed down the freeway until we started seeing fireworks.

Visiting the Madsens

Our summer visit to Idaho was so fun.  The boys had been counting down the days until we got to go see our Grandpas and Grandmas and all the cousins.  They were really anticipating a lot of fun and they weren't disappointed.
Here are the highlights from our visit with the Madsens.
Colt on the zip line.

Dash on the zip line that comes of Grandma Madsen's porch.
Sport on the zip line.
Grandpa Madsen and the boys finishing up a 4 wheeler ride.
Debra and Dash playing Cops and Robbers in the park.
Dash "handcuffing" Madison.
Alexis wrestling an uncooperative Robber Colt.
Sport holding cousin Grayson who is only 9 months younger than him, but Sport thinks Grayson is a "baby".
Sport bossing Grayson.
Grandpa Madsen, Dash, and Colt zonked out after a long day of playing.
Dash swimming at Palisades during the Madsen Family Reunion.
Colt splashing at Palisades.
Throwing rocks and looking for minnows.
Brandan threw a rock so far out into the lake that he was stopped and complimented by a boater who had been out on the water.
We had a hard time catching minnows, but I spotted a couple of dead ones that we scooped into a cup and gave to Colt who was extremely satisfied.
Throwing rocks and warming up with Grandma Madsen.  Notice Sport's look of concentration, he gets that from his father.
