Hobbies

Brandan has become quite artsy lately.  After watching lots of Cake Boss episodes on Netflix, he decided he wanted to decorate a cake. So I made a layered cake for Memorial Day and he decorated it with his own homemade fondant.

Early in June we all signed up for a road race in Newcastle.  The boys and I decided to join the walkers, but after about 100 feet, Dash and Colt got impatient and started to run.  Everyone around us made fun of them because they figured they would burn out really quickly, but both boys ran the 1.85 miles, including some hills.  They beat all the walkers and shocked the race officials into silence.  I was really proud of them.  It was hot and their little faces were all red, but they kept going.
The boys and I running along.

After some confusion (the race was pretty disorganized), Brandan ended up started the running race a good minute+ after the other runners, but he ended up taking a close second anyway!

Sport's hobby is bird watching.  He stands at the windows, or on the porch for hours pointing at the birds and yelling for everyone to come see them.  We recently put down grass seed that the birds are feasting on, but Sport couldn't be happier with the flocking visitors.

Speaking of hobbies, Upton is the annual host of the National Inyan Kara Motor Cross Event.  It's crazy to see the town just balloon overnight.  The school parking lots fill up with campers and food booths for about a week and then after the race through the woods on Sunday, everyone just disappears again.
The picture doesn't do it justice, but this is a distant view of the school parking lot.  Campers even circle around the back and surround the football field.
